A Burger And Fries With Spicy Mayo.

Spicy Mayo Adds a New Dimension to Regional Dishes

Many people around the world appreciate and are used to their regional dishes but wonder if they can be improved. They may have heard about or tasted Korean Gochujang mayo and thought it was an excellent idea.

The definition of fusion food is to take a familiar dish and add the essence of another regional dish to create a completely unique, new flavour. This may have been the thinking behind Korean Gochujang mayo.

What is Korean Gochujang Mayo?

Korean Gochujang chilli paste and mayo are the two basic ingredients of Korean Gochujang mayo. However, as the sauce has caught the attention of many cooks who like to experiment, different variations have also become popular. Some adventurous cooks have added maple syrup for added sweetness or lime juice for added tartness and bite.

Korean Gochujang mayo has no strict recipe. You’re making the mayo just for yourself, family and friends. However, a good ratio to start with is 2 tbsp mayo to 1 tsp Gochujang chilli paste or Sriracha sauce. This ratio delivers a decent balance of flavours – not too spicy and not too mild.

If your spicy mayo becomes too spicy, simply add more mayo. Just keep track of the amount of ingredients you’re adding so that you can recreate it when you achieve the ideal flavour.

Of course, you don’t have to create your own spicy mayo. Flying Goose has three alternatives in their line of products. We offer Sriracha Mayo, Spicy Sriracha Mayo, and Sweet Chilli Mayo for people who want to be adventurous and experiment with spicing up their local dishes.

Experiment with Local and Regional Dishes

We’ve chosen four regional cuisines as examples of foods that would be complemented with the addition of spicy mayo. Two feature spicy dishes, and two are milder cuisines. Adding spicy mayo to these dishes adds a bit of spice to the milder cuisines and a different flavour to the spicy cuisines. Let’s explore our cuisines and dishes.

Mexican

  • Tortas are the Mexican versions of a hamburger. A succulent flank steak is the favourite cut of beef to create a torta. Although the marinade used on the steak is generally spicy, the flavour can be personalised with the addition of a spicy mayo.
  • Tacos are loved by people around the world. For a different type of taste sensation, try a fish taco with a spicy mayo, Sriracha sauce and lime juice.
  • Carne asada and fajitas are two hearty Mexican meat entrees that can take on a completely different flavour with the addition of a Sriracha sauce and spicy mayo.

Indian

  • Pakoras are spiced, deep-fried vegetable fritters. They’re perfect for a complementary dipping sauce, like a milder spicy mayo.
  • Every cuisine seems to have their own version of a burger and India’s is vada pav, an Indian vegetarian street food that’s served with aromatic chutney. A spicy mayo adds a new dimension to this beloved dish.
  • Chaat is a variety of savoury snacks that include starches, like samosas or naan, raw and cooked vegetables, and chutneys. Adding spicy mayo or Sriracha sauce to the mix adds a different level of flavour.
  • Masala dosa is a type of crispy and savoury crepe that’s a popular breakfast food in India. A spicy mayo dipping sauce enhances the flavours of these crepes.

Japanese

Crispy tempura tastes perfect with spicy mayo.

  • The mild flavours and crunchy textures of tempura are made to be accompanied by a spicy mayo or Sriracha dipping sauce.
  • Yakitori is the Japanese version of a shish kebab or satay. Instead of dipping them into a traditional soy-based sauce, try a spicy mayo or Sriracha sauce to add variety to the meal.
  • Tonkatsu is a breaded and fried pork cutlet that tastes perfect when accompanied by a spicy mayo.

Western

  • Try a spicy mayo instead of ketchup on your next burger. It goes great with lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles.
  • Hot dogs and mustard are tired standards. Why not switch it up a bit by substituting the mustard for a Sriracha sauce or spicy mayo?
  • Everybody’s used to dipping French fries into a variety of sauces. Adding a spicy mayo to the mix is sure to win you many fans.
  • Sandwiches are made for experimentation. Try different sorts of cold cuts and other ingredients with spicy mayo to see which ones work the best.
