Honey Sriracha Wings Recipe

Making honey Sriracha wings at home is easy. You just need the right ingredients and to follow a few simple steps. Here’s everything you need to know.

Ingredients

  • 2 grams of chicken wings
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/3 Flying Goose Sriracha Hot Chilli Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped coriander or green onions (optional)

Method

Making the Honey Sriracha Sauce

The first step in preparing honey sriracha wings is making the sauce. Combine the honey, Flying Goose Sriracha Hot Chilli Sauce, soy sauce, lime juice, and garlic powder in a medium bowl. Mix them thoroughly until you have a smooth sauce. This sauce will give your wings that addictive, sweet, and spicy flavour.

Marinating the Chicken Wings

Put the wings in a large bowl and season with salt and pepper. Pour about half of the honey sriracha sauce over the wings, ensuring they’re well-coated. Let them marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, but if you have time, let them sit for 2-3 hours. This helps the flavours soak in.

Cooking

Now it’s time to cook the wings. Here are a few methods you can use:

Oven Cooking

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with aluminium foil and place a wire rack on top. Lay the marinated wings on the rack, ensuring they aren’t touching.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through so they cook evenly and get crispy.
  • In the last 5 minutes of baking, brush the wings with more honey sriracha sauce for extra flavour.

Grilling

  • Heat your grill to medium-high.
  • Place the marinated wings on the grill, cooking them for 10-12 minutes on each side or until they’re fully cooked and have nice grill marks.
  • While grilling, brush on more honey sriracha sauce to keep them juicy and flavourful.

Deep Frying

  • Heat about 2 inches of oil in a skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry the wings in batches for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Place the wings on paper towel to drain excess oil, then toss them in the remaining honey sriracha sauce.

Air Fryer

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  • Place the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, cooking for 20-25 minutes and flipping halfway through.
  • Once done, toss the wings in the remaining sauce to coat them fully.

Coating the Wings

After cooking, place the hot wings in a bowl, pour the remaining sauce over them, and toss until they’re well coated. The heat from the wings will help the sauce stick, giving them a great glaze.

Serving Suggestions

Grilled chicken wings served with beer

Now your honey sriracha wings are ready, it’s time to serve them up. Here are some ideas:

  • Garnish: Sprinkle chopped coriander or green onions on top for a pop of colour and freshness.
  • Side Dishes: Serve the wings with celery and carrot sticks for a nice crunch or a side of coleslaw for something cool and creamy.
  • Drinks: To cool down the spice, pair your wings with a cold beer, lemonade, or iced tea.

Cooking Tips and Techniques

  • Adjust the Spice Level: If you want less heat, use less sriracha or add more honey. You can adjust to your taste.
  • Get Extra Crispy Wings: To ensure your wings are extra crispy, pat them dry with paper towels before marinating. This helps remove excess moisture.
  • Try Double Frying: If you’re deep-frying, fry the wings at a lower temperature first to cook them through, then fry again at a higher temperature to make them crispy.
